Wonder woman Comission

I´ve been working on a piece based on a drawing by the grear artist Claudio Aboy
(original art can be seen here:http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=699034&gsub=107553)

This piece has presented me a great challenge, since not only it has to look as much as possible like the drawing, it´s up to me to figure out the rest of the anatomy and looks from every other angle, specially the face. So let the games begin:
The first sketch was done on the fly, based on a typical 1:4 wire skeleton (this proved to be a real pain in the A$$ later on)
Here the problems with proportions comparing the base structure with the ref. art are pretty obvious: the lenght and position of the legs, the lenght of the torso and of course the size of the Boobs :P.

Being a knuclehead i was reluctant to start from scratch having invested so much time on this particular figure, but it was finally my client who pointed me in the right direction by giving me a 5 point list of things that needed to be corrected, which were:
- The neck could be a little bit "shorter". looks a little bit long compared to the pic.
- also the lower part of the body (below the bust) could be a little bit "shorter". looks a bit stretched
- arms and legs: little more flesh on them
- a bit more busty^^
- head little more downward and bit smaller face and shorter forehead
- little more hair
- left arm a little bit lower

So i went to sleep thinking about starting from scratch all over again, and then it came to me:
Polyester putty.

I saw a couple of years ago a video from kotobukiya´s monster sculptors where they showed how they made a beautiful and sexy figure using this kind of material. So i started by printing a few copies of the drawing the exact size the statue was meant to be, and then cut them down to use the negative space as a template to fit the curves and slopes of the drawing on top of my figure, and it worked like a charm. (wonder why i never did this before....hmmmm.)
Almost finished, now i´m doing the hair with epoxy, remade the hand to make it grab the boot, and hopefully by Sunday i´ll have the statue painted and ready to ship.
